Torekh launches a multilingual, interactive guide to Israel’s election lists

Independent project uses digital cards to help voters explore parties, recognize ballot letters and follow the sources behind the information.

Torekh — “Your Turn,” תורך, دورك — is introducing a free, mobile-friendly guide designed to make Israel’s electoral choices easier to explore.

Available at Torekh.org, the guide presents election lists as interactive cards. Readers can recognize Hebrew ballot letters, find official candidate lists, turn cards over to explore available policy information and follow links to supporting sources.

The guide offers short party introductions in Hebrew, Arabic and English. It makes no voting recommendations and does not rank parties.

Making a complicated landscape more approachable

Torekh was created by Jennifer Love, a woman based in the United States, whose own experience of feeling overwhelmed by election information prompted a question: could a familiar format make a complicated political landscape easier to understand?

The project began with questions about women’s representation and the choices facing Jewish and Arab women in Israel. It has developed into an open resource for anyone seeking to understand the electoral landscape, including people preparing to vote for the first time.

The card format gives readers several ways to begin: recognize a ballot symbol, search for a party or candidate, read a short introduction, or examine the sources behind a summary.

An exploratory coalition tool also lets readers select parties and total their projected seats using a clearly dated published poll. The tool illustrates the arithmetic; it does not predict election results or establish that the selected parties would agree to govern together.

An evolving public resource

Torekh is a public beta. Research remains partial, and AI-assisted translations await fluent human review. The guide identifies information gaps and distinguishes official ballot and candidate information from editorial summaries.

AI has been used extensively in the project’s development, including research assistance, source comparison, translation and coding. Readers should consult the linked original sources, particularly when information may have changed.

The project welcomes corrections, source suggestions and feedback from readers, journalists and Hebrew- and Arabic-speaking reviewers. Its code and original editorial materials are openly licensed under the terms published in its source repository.

Announcements and discussion communities are available on both WhatsApp and Telegram, with links on the website.
